Converting advanced training services to online courses to meet industry challenges isn't easy, but as you can see, it's achievable. However, this process requires, above all, flexibility and extensive experience. Maintaining high efficiency and a practical training experience was paramount for EMT-Systems. Those who have already participated in the company's remote training programs appreciate the opportunity for independent practice, excellent communication, and instructor support, while also enjoying the freedom of working on their own equipment. "The Fourth Industrial Revolution is already a reality," says Grzegorz Wszołek, CEO of EMT-Systems. "Today, automation processes are increasingly integrating with IT systems, creating cyber-physical ecosystems. Thanks to our fantastic collaboration with APA Group, we were able to establish a test laboratory that allows for the integration of training stations composed of ABB robots with Nazca 4.0 software. Our trainees will be able to monitor robot performance parameters, verify energy efficiency, and programmable motion trajectories from the application."

The second joint project is a building automation test laboratory. The result of this collaboration is a series of training courses enabling entry into the world of intelligent buildings, BMS systems, programming, and preparing modern construction for the ever-increasing demands of users.

W Gliwice News an article was published about the cooperation between EMT-Systems and APA Group in the field of training projects for engineers in the field of industrial and building automation:

"Last year, approximately 9000 people took part in the company's courses. At the beginning of 2020, classes were conducted in laboratories equipped with machines, but due to the pandemic, the company had to adapt its services to remote communication. The center utilized software suggested by clients, most often ZOOM and Microsoft Teams instant messaging. At the EMT-Systems headquarters in Gliwice, webinar studios were set up, equipped with cameras transmitting images of the equipment in operation from the laboratory."

At section Case studies The Future Industry Platform describes the process of moving our in-person training courses to the online world – the reasons for the change, the benefits, but also the problems we encountered along the way:

"Currently, EMT-Systems has established 27 online courses, covering topics such as: programming SIEMENS SIMATIC S7-300/400/1200/1500 logic controllers, SIEMENS Safety Integrated, SIMATIC PCS7, CoDeSys, HMI, ABB, FANUC, and KUKA industrial robots, NX CAD, machine safety, power hydraulics, industrial pneumatics, and CNC machine tool programming. "Currently, integrated skills in automation and robotics are becoming paramount for engineering staff. To meet this demand, EMT-Systems purchased Yaskawa industrial robots this year, allowing the center to now offer training in the operation and programming of robots from four leading manufacturers: ABB, Fanuc, Kuka, and Yaskawa. We also managed to acquire additional CNC machines and double the number of planned training courses in automation and mechatronics.

In the last two years alone, nearly 60 new courses have been launched across five training divisions, and the new headquarters will further accelerate this process. Expert training in logic controller programming has been added to the offering, with an unprecedented amount of equipment per participant.

Europerspektywy: During the 26th Grand Gala of Polish Business Leaders, you received a Diamond to the Golden Statuette. The Diamond is proof of the company's continued development. What development activities is EMT-Systems Sp. z o. o. in Gliwice undertaking? What investments are you planning in the near future?

Grzegorz Wszołek: The beginning of the year brought significant changes to the company. We moved to new headquarters, where we have twice the space. This opens up even more opportunities for us. We continue to focus on implementing innovations, both in teaching methods and infrastructure. This will be much easier now that we have space for new equipment and industrial machinery. We purchased Yaskawa industrial robots, thanks to which we can provide training in the operation and programming of robots from four leading manufacturers: ABB, Fanuc, Kuka, and Yaskawa. We also managed to acquire additional CNC machines and double the number of planned training courses in automation and mechatronics.

Europerspektywy: EMT-Systems is a company that perfectly aligns with the idea of ​​Industry 4.0. Do you think Polish entrepreneurs are prepared to implement these ideas? How could they prepare?

Grzegorz Wszołek: This is a relatively new phenomenon. A European report on Industry 4.0 classified Poland as a "hesitant" country, not fully prepared for development toward highly advanced production automation. However, we must be aware of the benefits it can provide. Primarily, this includes process optimization and increased productivity. Integrating predictive maintenance systems is also crucial, as it alerts users to potential threats and failures.

"Statistics indicate that more and more young women are choosing to study at the Silesian University of Technology. One of them is Julia Pokorny, a fourth-year student of Power Engineering with a practical focus. Julia's student activity and involvement are the best proof that women can thrive at a technical university (...). I studied electronics, but the voltage was too low for me, so I changed my major," laughs Julia. "Power engineering seems more human to me; it's easier to imagine high-voltage lines and electrical boxes. "When it comes to small and medium-sized companies, experts see a problem with the negative approach to SMED, which stems from the belief that it's a way to "turn up the screws," meaning speed up human work. Of course, this is a misconception, because the goal of SMED is to improve work organization, make machine operations easier for operators, and make their workstations easier to manage. Meanwhile, in wealthy corporations, there's often a temptation to start with investments, such as mechanization in changeovers. Mechanization actually occurs in the final, fourth stage of SMED."

What are the trends in industrial maintenance using pneumatic tools? What new products have appeared in EMT-Systems' offerings for devices in the broad sense? pneumatics over the past year? "Representatives of maintenance services are increasingly noticing problems related to the costs of compressed air leaks and consumption. Programs are being implemented to inspect machines and compressed air distribution networks. Another trend is to reduce operating pressure, but this method can lead to many negative consequences (including reduced actuator force, air shortages, and failure to maintain defined production cycle times). Reducing pressure brings visible savings in media consumption and reduced losses resulting from air leaks, but focusing solely on this aspect significantly reduces the scope of cost savings."

The Gliwice Engineering Training Center EMT-Systems received the prestigious Siemens Award and the title of Well-Seen Company from the Business Centre Club. The company was recognized for its approach to employees and adherence to corporate social responsibility principles.

The Gliwice-based company received the Siemens Award in the Education category during the 22nd Siemens Partner Meeting, "SIMATIC: The Future of Automation." On behalf of the company, the award was presented by Dominika Bettman, CEO of Siemens Polska, and Steffen Leidel, to Grzegorz Wszołek, CEO of EMT-Systems. "We are very pleased with the award, which confirms that we are on the right track and also motivates us to continue our work," said the CEO of EMT-Systems.

Grzegorz Wszołek: Thank you, the entire EMT-Systems team earned this distinction. Several factors undoubtedly contributed to our success. The most important of these is our close attention to customer needs. The market is changing, equipment is changing, and therefore the competencies sought by employers are also changing. Gliwice Municipal Information Service, Traffic Maintenance Services and Nowiny Gliwickie on the 2018 European Medal awarded to the training department Industrial Robots.

 

This year, the course participants were provided with a wealth of new equipment – ​​the industrial pneumatics laboratory was equipped with a professional industrial compressed air preparation station and a proportional pneumatics station; the machine tool laboratory was enriched with the eighth industrial machine – the R550 "Harnaś" Vertical Machining Center; the industrial robots laboratory was equipped with additional FANUC and KUKA robots; and the plastics laboratory with new equipment and research instruments.
