Method 1 (PREFERRED):

• The training participant receives access to our computer via REMOTE DESKTOP.
• The participant does not need to install any specialized software.
• The participant has the option of sharing their desktop with the presenter or the presenter can approach the physical computer on which the participant is working directly.

Method 2 (IN EXCEPTIONAL CASES, AGREED BY THE PARTIES):

• We provide training participants with the necessary software to conduct individual exercises – STEP7, TIAPortal, PLCSIM simulator, NX, SoliEDGE, SinuTrain and others.
• Participants install the software on their own computers.
• The solution allows you to perform exercises in real time.
• In case of problems, the participant can share his or her desktop with the presenter.
• Participants may also use their own software if its version matches the performer's version.

Method 3:

• Loan of a computer with software, if the participant can collect it from the EMT-Systems office.

CONTROL AND VISUALIZATION SYSTEMS

I. ORGANIZATION, ZOOM SOFTWARE

1. What distance learning platform does EMT-Systems use during OPEN ONLINE training? As the organizer and host of the training, we use the PRO version of the ZOOM software. Course participants only need the free BASIC version. To use the platform, download and log in. ZOOM application and/ or log in to the website.
2. What if there are technical problems with the connection or software during the course? Throughout the entire training, you are actively connected to the instructor via a distance learning platform. EMT's IT services also monitor the training. We can contact you by phone at any time to resolve any issues. In the event of technical issues, we will always suggest alternative software access options.
3. Is it possible to test the correct operation of the software with EMT before starting the training? YES. Two or three days before the course, we will set up a test connection for each group separately. We will check that the software is installed correctly.
4. What software do participants receive from EMT-Systems if they choose “Option 2”? Course participants receive the TIA Portal software package and the PLC Simulator. The package also includes download and installation instructions.
5. What are the requirements for a remote desktop connection? We prefer to connect using a remote desktop via the UltraVNC application. A connection speed of 25 Mbps is required.
6. When can I collect the equipment in the case of "Method No. 3" i.e. renting computers with software from EMT-Systems? Please contact us individually regarding this matter. We will be ready to provide equipment three days before the training.
7. Is a second monitor required during training? No, but it will definitely make your work easier – you'll be able to watch the instructor work on one monitor while you complete the exercises yourself on the other. In other words, switching applications on one monitor can be cumbersome in the long run.

II. TIA PORTAL SOFTWARE

1. What are the minimum hardware requirements to install TIA Portal? According to SIEMENS:
   • Processor Intel® Core™ i5-6440EQ (up to 3.4 GHz)
   • RAM 16 GB (min. 8 GB, 32 GB for large projects)
   • Hard disk SSD with 50 GB free storage space

   In fact:

   • Intel® Core™ i5-3xxxx Processor – 3rd generation i5 processor should be able to handle it,
   • RAM 16 GB (min. 8 GB, 32 GB for large projects) – 8 GB is the minimum, the more the better,
   • Hard disk SSD with 50 GB free storage space – SSD is essential, without it it is quite difficult to work.

   To sum up, the SSD drive alone should be sufficient for older laptops, and if you follow the manufacturer's recommendations, TIA Portal should run smoothly and pleasantly.

2. What is PLCSIM software? PLCSIM is a free simulator that any TIA Portal user can install to test a prepared program without real hardware.
3. Which simulator do we use during training? Generally, SIEMENS offers two simulators for TIA Portal:
   • PLCSIM – free one that we use,
   • PLCSIM Advanced – paid, offering more features, more complex.

   We don't recommend using the advanced simulator. If a student has the PLCSIM Advanced version installed, they can use it, but there's a chance the trainer won't be able to help them if they encounter any problems.

4. What trial licenses will I have when I download files from EMT-Systems? After installation, the student will have the following licenses in the 21-day version:
   • STEP7 Professional V15.1 – ability to program S7-1500, S7-1200, S7-300, S7-400 controllers.
   • WinCC Advanced V15.1 – ability to program all HMI panels and SCADA systems.

   WinCC Advanced includes the WinCC Comfort license.

    

5. Do I need TIA Portal STEP7 Basic or STEP7 Professional for training? When downloading the software necessary for training, we download the STEP7 Professional version because:
   • The Professional version allows you to program S7-1500 controllers,
   • Only the Professional version can use the PLCSIM simulator.

    

6. What if I already installed the TIA Portal trial version and the 21-day free trial period has ended?In such a case, the student will likely need to use other methods of participating in the course (Option 2 – Remote Desktop or Option 3 – Equipment Rental). Alternatively, they can arrange for another computer that has not had the software installed in its history.

SIEMENS PLM TRAINING – NX, SolidEdge

6. What is the IP number of the server on which licenses will be made available to NX training students? Access to the NX software license will be granted on the training start date. Participants will be assigned the appropriate server IP address.
7. What are the minimum hardware requirements to install NX 12?
