Motion Control Functions of the S7-1500T Controller
Course objective:
After completing the training, the participant:- Parameterizes, starts, optimizes and diagnoses converters from the following families: Sinamics S120 in the multi-axis version and Sinamics V90 equipped with servo motors,
- Can configure and diagnose the Profinet communication network in the RT and IRT versions,
- It can control drives in direct modes (without using a technological axis), speed control and positioning,
- It can read and change drive parameters using acyclic communication from the application level on the PLC side,
- Activates and diagnoses basic safety functions integrated in the drive (STO, SS1),
- Can configure the technological axes of S71200/1500 controllers and program Motion Control functions taking into account the capabilities of the controller in the technological version (1500T),
- Activates motion control functions based on technological axes - speed control, position control, torque limits, direct and curved axis synchronization, support for incremental and absolute encoders, fast I/O useful when implementing motion issues,
- Can build an advanced program to control a single axis and a program to synchronize drive axes via a superior PLC controller (linear and non-linear couplings, 3D/4D kinematic systems, virtual axes),
- Performs diagnostics of all components included in the Motion Control system (PLC / Technological axis / Communication network / Drive).

Laboratory equipment
The training rooms and laboratories are air-conditioned, large, and spacious. The student workstations are expertly equipped. Each participant has a dedicated workstation dedicated to learning and solving tasks based on the Motion Functions of the S7-1500T controller.
1511TF fail-safe technology controller
SIMATIC S7-1500T technology units are standard controllers that have been enhanced with advanced drive control features. The S7-1500T controllers combine a number of advantages, including:
- Standard, safety, and advanced drive control functions in one unit
- Enhanced drive functions such as advanced axis synchronization and cam control integrated in the TIA Portal environment
- Easy programming and configuration thanks to graphical interfaces in the TIA Portal environment
- Adaptation and customization of cam charts during system operation (e.g. in the event of a product change)
Siemens SINAMICS S120 converter
Participants have access to individual stations based on a Siemens SINAMICS S120 frequency converter. The station consists of the following components:- CU320 central unit in Profinet version
- SmartLine version power module with input mains choke
- Dual-motor inverter module
- Components connected via a communication bus for drives - Drive-Cliq
Sinamics V90 Converter + Servo Motor
The servo drive system consists of a SINAMICS V90 converter and a SIMOTICS S-FL6 servo motor. This system can communicate with the controller using PTI, PROFINET, USS, and Modbus RTU. The SINAMICS V90 servo drive system enables cost-effective and convenient implementation of motion control applications.
SIMOTICS S-1FL6SIMOTICS S-1FL6 are synchronous motors with permanent magnets. The motors are naturally cooled, dissipating heat across their entire surface. Motor installation is quick and easy thanks to screw-on cable connectors or quick-release connectors. The motors have a 300% overload capacity and are compatible with SINAMICS V90 converters. Together with SINAMICS V90, the SIMOTICS S-1FL6 constitutes a powerful and functional drive system.
SINAMICS V90The SINAMICS V90 is designed to meet the requirements of basic servo applications. Configuring the SINAMICS V90 drive is straightforward – it's based on the plug-and-play principle. Furthermore, the SINAMICS V90 can be quickly integrated into a SIMATIC PLC control system, ensuring high system reliability. The complete drive system consists of a SINAMICS V90 converter and a SIMOTICS S-1FL6 servo motor. The system can be easily integrated into automation systems using PTI, PROFINET, USS, or Modbus RTU.
Distributed I/O ET 200S
SIMATIC ET 200S is a multifunctional I/O system with IP20 protection class that can be perfectly adapted to automation tasks.
Interface modules with integrated CPU and PROFINET/PROFIBUS connection are available in both standard and safety versions. The bit-modular ET 200S offers a comprehensive range of modules, including power supplies, digital or analog input and output modules, technology modules, IO-Link masters, motor starters, and pneumatic interfaces. Thanks to its robust design, the ET 200S can also be used under high mechanical stress.
Due to the separation of mechanics and electronics, permanent wiring is possible, for example, the station can be wired prior to installation or commissioning. This allows the wiring to be controlled without electronic modules, preventing damage to sensitive components. This reduces commissioning time. In the event of a failure, modules can be replaced without the need for time-consuming wiring.
Switch Scalence X204IRT
The SCALANCE X-204 IRT isochronous REAL TIME is designed to create networks based on isochronous real-time operation in line, star, and ring topologies at 10/100 Mbps. These types of networks are used, among others, in the PROFINET standard. The SCALANCE X204 IRT is equipped with four RJ45 electrical ports.
