Siemens Sinamics G120 in TIA Portal – configuration, commissioning, diagnostics
Course objective:
After completing the training, the participant:- Can configure SINAMICS G120 converters in the TIA Portal environment
- Uses SINAMICS Startdrive software in conjunction with the S7-1500 controller
- Possesses knowledge and skills related to Siemens SINAMICS G drives
- Knows the methods of selecting and diagnosing systems consisting of a SINAMICS G frequency converter and an electric motor
- Has knowledge of diagnostic analysis and servicing of SINAMICS G electric drives

Laboratory equipment
The training rooms and laboratories are air-conditioned, large, and spacious. The student workstations are specially equipped. Individualized work is our priority, which is why we provide each trainee with a fully equipped, exclusive training station.
All workstations are equipped with a laptop with software, a Simatic S71500 controller connected to an innovative execution station containing, among other things, a G120 converter, a motor, and an encoder for positioning functions.
TRANSFORMER Siemens SINAMICS G120
Participants have access to individual stations based on a Siemens SINAMICS G120 frequency converter. The station consists of the following components:
- SINAMICS G120 inverter with the highest model of the CU250S-2 central unit (possibility of connecting an encoder, positioning, extensive safety functions).
- Asynchronous motor.
- Incremental encoder.
- Brake and status indicators of digital and analog outputs.
- Digital and analog signal generator for local control.
Parameters of Siemens electric motors:
- power supply: 50 Hz, 230/400 V
- power: 0,12 kW
- revolutions 1350/min
Siemens SIMATIC S7-1516F PN/DP CONTROLLERS with input/output cards:
Each training participant has a dedicated workstation designed for learning industrial tasks and solutions based on the Siemens S7-1516F PN/PD controller. The training workstation consists of a controller equipped with digital and analog input/output modules, connected to a digital and analog input and output signal simulator.
Software
SIEMENS TIA Portal V19 is the next version of the integrated design environment that supports solving engineering tasks by including all the necessary software packages in one place:
- STEP7 for programming PLC controllers,
- WinCC for creating visualizations for HMI operator panels and SCADA systems,
- STEP7 Safety for preparing a safety program,
- Startdrive for operating SINAMICS series drive units,
- And many others, such as SiVArc and TestSuite.
